JOY IS AN ACT OF RESISTANCE

WOFA Lining up for the big ending for the UP TO US Stage

The Grassroots Gratitude Garden and Dance Against DOGE were big hits. We all need to take care of ourselves and remember what Heather Cox Richardson said: “Authoritarians cannot rise if there are strong communities and people are acting with joy.”

“History shows that joy and mockery are key to taking down existing or would-be authoritarian regimes.”

CANDIDATES & POWER PACKS

Visit the Virginia Grassroots Coalition Website - Resistance Events and Election Information.

The Power Packs is our grassroots coalition’s innovative strategy and tactic to tackle 100 House Delegate seats, to model and encourage candidates to work together and with the grassroots, to learn the map, the districts, and to study the areas (precincts) where we can improve relationships with the community to increase voter participation to flip Congressional Districts etc.

Visit Virginia Grassroots Coalition for election, event, policy, and community information.

SPECIAL HIGHLIGHT

Ms. Margaret Morrison’s speech Sunday morning at the Badass Brunch needs to be heard by everyone. Her life story covered her African ancestors capture to the plantation in South Carolina to her earliest memory of “colored only” day at the Zoo - and her mother’s strong words that they were not second class citizens and no one was going until they could go any day of the week. She wore this as a badge of honor to this day. Margaret marched with John Lewis from Selma to Montgomery for voting rights in 1965. Her story inspired us all and it important to be part of our history books.

We will be sharing Ms. Margaret’s full speech soon.

You can listen to a past Friday Power Lunch segment from Ms. Margaret on race.
